Moscow’s time zone
Moscow keeps Moscow Time (MSK), UTC+3, all year round: its clocks do not change for summer. Phones and computers set Moscow’s clocks from the Europe/Moscow zone of the IANA tz database, and so does this page.
Moscow Time is UTC+3 all year, and Russia has not changed its clocks since 26 October 2014. The decade before was eventful. On 27 March 2011 Russia moved its clocks forward for summer and then did not move them back, so Moscow sat on UTC+4 all year. That proved unpopular in the dark winter mornings, and in October 2014 the country moved back to UTC+3 and abolished seasonal changes.
Russia spans eleven time zones, from UTC+2 in Kaliningrad to UTC+12 in Kamchatka, and Moscow Time is the reference for the railways and national broadcasts. Moscow shares its clock with Minsk, Istanbul and Riyadh. Against Western Europe the gap changes with the seasons, because only the EU moves its clocks: Moscow is two hours ahead of Berlin in winter and one hour ahead in summer.
