Grade Calculator

Weighted grades are calculated by multiplying each assignment's percentage score (earned/total) by its weight, summing the results, and dividing by the total weight. For example, if you scored 90% on a midterm worth 30% and 80% on homework worth 20%, your weighted grade is (90*30 + 80*20) / (30+20) = 86%.

Unweighted grades treat all assignments equally regardless of their importance. Weighted grades assign different percentages to different categories (e.g., exams 40%, homework 30%, participation 30%), so more important work has a bigger impact on your final grade.

Common letter grade scales are: A = 90-100%, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = 60-69%, F = below 60%. Some schools use plus/minus modifiers (e.g., A- = 90-92%, A = 93-96%, A+ = 97-100%), though specific cutoffs vary by institution.
