Mexico City’s time zone
Mexico City keeps Central Standard Time (CST), UTC−6, all year round: its clocks do not change for summer. Phones and computers set Mexico City’s clocks from the America/Mexico_City zone of the IANA tz database, and so does this page.
Mexico City has kept Central Standard Time all year since 30 October 2022, when it fell back for the last time. A law published on 28 October 2022 abolished daylight saving across Mexico, keeping it only in the municipalities along the US border that follow US dates so they stay in step with their neighbours, such as Ciudad Juárez with El Paso.
Before that the capital had changed clocks almost every year since 1996, usually from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. The result for visitors and businesses is that Mexico City now matches Chicago and Dallas only in winter; from March to November it sits an hour behind them, and it matches Denver instead. Most of central and southern Mexico, including Guadalajara and Monterrey, shares the capital’s clock.

- Mexico’s law of 28 October 2022 ended daylight saving time nationally, except where US rules are followed along the northern border. Source: IANA tz database, file “northamerica”.
