How to convert teaspoons to mL
Multiply US teaspoons by 4.92892. A teaspoon is one third of a tablespoon, one sixth of a fluid ounce, so it is 29.5735295625 ÷ 6 = 4.92892159375 mL.
Two and a half teaspoons of baking powder is 2.5 × 4.929 = 12.3 mL. Half a teaspoon is 2.46 mL, an eighth of a teaspoon 0.62 mL, which is why very small amounts in baking are easier to weigh than to spoon.
Medicine is a special case. US labels count a teaspoon as exactly 5 mL, and the dose cup or oral syringe in the box is marked in mL. Cutlery teaspoons are not made to a standard size, so measure doses with the syringe, not a spoon from the drawer.

How to estimate teaspoons to mL in your head
Multiply by 5. The real teaspoon is 1.4% smaller, which is a few hundredths of a milliliter per spoon, far below what anyone can pour. Six teaspoons is about 30 mL, one fluid ounce (29.57 exactly).
In reverse, one milliliter is a fifth of a teaspoon, so a 2.5 mL dose is half a teaspoon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 1 teaspoon 5 mL?
For medicine and food labels, yes: US rules define it as 5 mL. The customary US teaspoon is 4.93 mL, close enough that measuring spoons sold as “1 tsp” and “5 mL” are the same spoon.
How many teaspoons is 10 mL?
10 mL is 2 teaspoons by the 5 mL label value, or 2.03 US customary teaspoons. Either way, two level teaspoons.
How many teaspoons are in a tablespoon?
Three. A US tablespoon is 14.79 mL and a teaspoon 4.93 mL, so 3 teaspoons fill one tablespoon exactly.
